'H.P. Vidhan Sabha Legislature Forum For Tibet' Reconstituted

Dharamshala: A Tibetan Parliamentary delegation led by Mrs Gyari Dolma, Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and Geshe Ghasi Tseringpo, MP, accompanied by the Tibetan Settlement Officer, Shimla, called on Chief Minister Prof. P.K Dhumal, Vidya Stokes, leader of the opposition, speakers and ministers and other dignitaries of the state on the morning of 5 March 2010.

Later in the day a circular was issued by J.P. Nadda, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, which stated that a meeting was held to reconstitute the "H.P Vidhan Sabha Legislature Forum For Tibet".

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, President (Chief Minister); Smt. Vidya Stokes, Senior Vice President (Leader of Opposition); Sh. J.P.Nadda, Vice President (Parliamentary Affairs Minister); Sh. Thakur Kaul Singh, Gen. Secretary (Ex-Parliamentary Affairs Minister), Sh. Suresh Bhardwaj, Gen. Secretary (MLA, H.P Vidhan Sabha) and all members of H.P Vidhan Sabha, shall be Ex-Officio Members for the Forum from 2008 to 2012.   

The circular affirmed that the "State Legislature Forum For Tibet supports the non-violent approach of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the peaceful solution of Tibetan issue".

The Forum shall extend "support for the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural and religious relations between the two countries".

It stands "committed to the protection of environment and the security of the Himalayan Region".

A luncheon was hosted to the visiting Tibetan Parliamentary delegates by State Industries Minister Kishan Kapur.
